Community intertwined by compassion

Our vision for church is a group of people woven together through storytelling, service, and worship.

Two elderly men are talking and smiling at each other at a social gathering, standing near a black cocktail table with yellow flowers, in a room with wood-paneled walls and other people in the background.

In his “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” Martin Luther King Jr. posits,

“We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Therefore, whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.”

The process of becoming one is the premise of Interwoven. We believe that the approach of being woven together aligns with Jesus’ last prayer in John 17. Jesus prayed that we would be one as He and the Father are one. To become one is a process. At Interwoven church, we are committed to going through the process of becoming one.

We believe that to be woven together, we must serve one another, love one another, and sacrifice for one another.

I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word,  that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one,  I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

John 17:20-23 (NRSV)
